Dodge These Habits If You Want a Top-Notch Oral Health

Did you know that your smile is in danger when you participate in tooth-harming habits each day? Well, it’s true! There are many habits that can harm your teeth and gums, and our Rivereast Dental Group team encourages you to avoid participating in those habits as much as possible. Some habits we suggest that you avoid include:

Chewing on ice: This habit can cause microscopic tooth fractures, which could turn into major breaks and cracks in the future. The brittleness and cold temperature of the ice cubes tend to harm the teeth and create small cracks in the tooth enamel.

Using your teeth as tools: This habit can cause damage to your smile because the pressure can be hard on your teeth, traumatizing them and even causing tooth chips and fractures. Many people use their teeth to open a bag of chips, rip a tag off a piece of clothing, or uncap a bottle of nail polish. Please refrain from using your teeth as tools.

Grinding your teeth: This habit is extremely destructive. If you grind your teeth on a regular basis, it can wear the teeth down and even cause fractures. It’s best to wear a mouthguard or try relaxation techniques to protect your smile.
